To arrest that decline, the Australian Government has pledged to protect 30 % of our land and sea by 2030, but experts agree the target is unreachable without restoring vast areas of privately owned land (dcceew.gov.au, report.30by30.org.au). Restoration groups already struggle to secure suitable properties at the scale and speed required.
